Rachel Bart's Almost-Lifeguard Story

Not every Mosh story is about triumph—but the ones about resilience and laughter? Those stay with us the longest.

Back when Rachel Bart was at mosh, hadracha  organized a lifeguard training so that the madrichim/ot could earn official certification. It was a big deal—and Rachel, then 15, was so excited to be part of it.

There was just one catch: the training meant waking up at 6:00 AM to dive into the freezing pool for drills. Still, Rachel showed up every morning, determined to earn her place.

And then came the final test.

Rachel was the only one who didn’t pass.

“It’s stayed with me since,” she says—with a laugh and zero regrets.

At Camp Shomria, we don’t just build leaders—we build stories. Some of them you wear with pride. Others, you carry with a smile.

Got your own Mosh story? We’d love to hear it. Just reply to this email or tag us online.
